Kayak Navigation 1
In Kayak Navigation 1, we will introduce the basic skills to keep from getting lost on the water.
Morning classroom time will be spend introducing the Nautical Chart and using a hand held compass to determine a course, heading and bearing to navigate by Dead Reckoning.
Our ultimate goal is to be on the water as quickly as possible, to apply these skills while piloting our kayaks in sheltered conditions.

Kayak Navigation 2
In Kayak Navigation 2, we will introduce environmental conditions of tide, current and wind and how to navigate using their affects. This is a piloting course, which will emphasize “seat of the pants” navigation. We will paddle courses in moderate conditions (hopefully some fog) while using what we see to monitor our position.
